2023 Chengdu Finance Week, co-hosted by Chengdu Municipal Local Financial Regulation Bureau and Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Administration Committee, and organized by China Innovation Finance Institute|Chengdu, was officially opened on November 19, 2023 in Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
This Finance Week themed “Finance Empowers Sustainable Innovation, Investment Advances Inclusive Growth”, aims to further enhance Chengdu’s influence in the collaborative development of western financial center in the Chengdu-Chongqing area through a series of targeted keynote speeches, round-table discussions, and work achievements releases.
The event will be carried out online and offline, and it will last for more than 2 months. During this period, a range of activities will take place, including financial innovation exchanges, international investment attraction, and cross-border investment and financing matchmaking. These activities are expected to lead to significant investment attraction and cross-border financing achievements. A variety of sub-events will take place, including heavyweight international forums and “Country Day” promotion activities. Additionally, 2023 Finance Week will organize “The JIAOZI Business Book of the Year”, book recommendation activities, it will also hold “JIAOZI Business Book of the Year” and “Reading Day of JIAOZI Business Book” and launch several in-depth academic research reports.
On the opening day, a number of achievements in the construction of western financial centre and cross-border investment and financing were displayed. CIDP (Cross-Border Investment & Financing Digital Platform), X-Nexus (An Empowerment Platform for Stock Exchanges to China) and CDIEC (Chengdu Centre for International Economic Cooperation) were launched. The Cross-border Investment & Financing Digital Platform (CIDP) has been set up at Chengdu’s JIAOZI Park Financial Business District. This platform, based on the Plan for Joint Construction of a Western China Financial Center by Chengdu and Chongqing, integrates the professional capabilities of domestic and foreign financial institutions, industrial and commercial enterprises, and intermediary service organizations to create a comprehensive cross-border investment and financing platform that facilitates information sharing, investment due diligence, financing connectivity, and equity investment integration. Chengdu Exchange Service Center is a professional service network platform under the guidance to “vigorously introduce foreign financial institutions” in the detailed rules for Sichuan province for the implementation of the Plan for Joint Construction of a Western China Financial Center by Chengdu and Chongqing.
Chengdu Municipal Local Financial Regulation Bureau and Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone Administration Committee signed strategic cooperation agreements with Astana International Financial Centre Authority and Astana International Exchange respectively, and China Innovation Finance Institute | Chengdu and Frankfurt Main Finance established a long-term partnership.
In recent years, Chengdu has made remarkable achievements in promoting the construction of its financial centre. In the first three quarters of this year, Chengdu’s financial industry value added grew by 7.0%.
The venue for this year’s Finance Week is Chengdu JIAOZI Park Financial Business District, the primary gathering place for Chengdu’s financial industry. As the city’s only key area focused on “high-end factor coordination,” the JIAOZI Park Financial Business District adheres to a development path defined by its functional positioning, using industrial development to enhance its capabilities. Focusing on strengthening its core function as the primary hub for Chengdu’s efforts to build the Western Financial Center, it is actively developing into an internationally recognized, top-tier financial business district in China.
This year, the JIAOZI Park Financial Business District has focused on financial technology and digital economy sectors, attracting many fintech innovation enterprises and developing a full range of industry fund clusters. The district is guiding these funds to accelerate investment into key sectors. As of now, Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone has attracted nearly 1,500 domestic and international financial institutions and has established two national-level fintech enterprise incubators.
